Getting powder brows is divided into two steps: the initial application of the pigment and a touch-up session that happens 6-8 weeks later.

The longevity of ombre powder brows can vary depending on factors such as skin type, aftercare, and individual lifestyle. Typically, they can last between 1-2 years before a touch-up is needed. However, it's common for the pigment to fade gradually over time, so annual touch-ups are recommended to maintain the desired color and shape.

Most technicians apply a topical numbing cream before the procedure, which helps minimize discomfort. However, individual pain tolerance levels vary, so some clients may still experience mild discomfort during the process. It's important to communicate with your technician and let them know if you are feeling any discomfort during the procedure.

The duration of the procedure depends on various factors, including the technician's technique and the condition of your eyebrows. On average, it can take around 2-3 hours. This includes the initial consultation, numbing time, the actual procedure, and any necessary touch-ups.

• Cannot have any kind of Botox or fillers done 3-4 weeks before the procedure
• Cannot have any form of Microneedling (or any similar procedure that opens the skin) 2 weeks before & 2 weeks after
• No chemical peels 60 days before or 60 days after procedure (Brows will peel quicker due to chemicals traveling under the skin)
• No Retinols or Retin-A or other anti-aging/acne creams, or serums containing acids as these will fade brows prematurely
• Pregnant or Nursing
• Under the age of 18
• Skin irritation (sunburn, rash, eczema, shingles, active acne or psoriasis near the treated area)
• Cannot have used Accutane in the past 12 months
• Diabetes
• Epilepsy
• Heart or cardiac-related issues or pacemaker
• Undergoing Chemotherapy or Radiation
• Prone to Keloid scarring

• Viral infections or diseases

It is very important to know that some people can undergo the powder brows procedure despite having certain medical conditions, but only with a doctor’s approval. This includes people with:

•Uncontrolled high blood pressure

•Diabetes

•Organ transplant

•Pacemaker or major heart problems

•Epilepsy

Any treatment, medication, or illness that compromises the immune system.

Once the day comes for you to get your Powder Brows, make sure that you bring along the makeup you usually wear and photos of the look you want to achieve.

Make sure that you’re completely healthy. Before the procedure starts, you must complete a medical history form.

Do not drink caffeine or alcohol at least 48 hours before the procedure.

Do not take any blood thinners such as Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, B6, Omega 3, Gingko Biloba, or evening Primrose at least one week before your procedure. 

Of course, if this is medically necessary, you might want to consider changing the date of your powder brows procedure.

Pay attention to your menstrual cycle, as you shouldn’t book a treatment during that time – it can increase your pain sensitivity.

Avoid waxing, tanning, or tinting the eyebrow area at least three days before your appointment.

Avoid anti-aging treatments, such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, lasers, or facials, at least two weeks before your appointment.

Do not opt for facial injections at least one month before your procedure.

The treated area is susceptible and prone to infections right after the treatment.

So, wearing makeup on the treated area is forbidden. You are allowed to apply it to other parts of your face. However, since makeup can get to the treated area quickly and powder brows should be protected from contamination during the healing process, it is best not to risk it.

Therefore, it is advisable to avoid wearing makeup for about two weeks.

It’s very important to know that the result of the treatment is determined by many different factors, such as medications, skin characteristics (if it’s oily, sun-damaged, particularly thick or thin), your skin’s unique pH balance, alcohol intake, smoking, and the post-procedure aftercare.

Due to all that, the powder brow healing process might be different for everyone.

You will most likely experience swelling and redness after the procedure. This should subside within 4 days after the procedure, but this is individual.

It’s also important to note that the result will look approximately 50% darker than the desired effect and will take 4-10 days to lighten. The actual colors will be visible only 1 month after the procedure.

Scabbing is the most annoying stage in healing powder brows for most clients. We cannot stress enough how important it is for you to avoid picking at the scabs at all costs, as this can cause unattractive patchiness. You must see each powder brow's healing stages and let the skin recover. Once you see your brows healed, you’ll forget all about the agony of aftercare.

Although this treatment is sometimes called eyebrow powder tattoo, the results are created using PMU pigments, not tattoo ink, so they eventually fade. How long does powder brows last depends to a great extent on your actions. There are some important factors that can cause your powdered brows to fade faster and thus shorten their lifespan.

The most important factor is the sun; tanning beds, sunbathing and sun exposure can cause your powder brows to fade a bit faster.

Exfoliating can also cause some of the color to come off or fade out.

Other factors include oily skin and different medical conditions.

You should also avoid certain skincare products that accelerate fading for as long as you want to have your powder brows. If you notice your brows are fading, you can book a “color boost” touch-up appointment that will help you maintain the color.

If you’re not happy with the results and don’t want to wait until they fade naturally, there are ways to remove powder eyebrows; although, it can take some time and effort.

The most obvious way is to do all the things that accelerate fading: sunbathe, wash your face often, visit saunas, etc. The alternatives are saline removal and laser removal, which can get expensive and take time.The best solution seems to be scheduling a correction appointment and trying and fix them. Also, you can try a different artist, if you don’t trust your initial choice anymore.

Unfortunately, some people claim to have had allergic reactions to this treatment, or more precisely, to the pigments. If you are allergic to tattoo ink, you will probably be allergic to powder brows pigment, too. Also, the numbing cream or the pigment gets into the client’s bloodstream, thus leading to allergic reactions.

Some pigments contain paraphenylenediamine (PPD), used in hair dye, and some people are allergic to it. Luckily, there is a wide range of pigments, so you must warn your artist about allergies and make sure they don’t use pigments with PPD. If you are unsure whether you are allergic to certain pigments, the best thing to do is to test the area you want to cover. There are patch tests that are recommended for people who are not sure if they are allergic to a pigment or not. Besides doing the patch test, you can also visit an allergist to ensure the powder brows treatment is safe.

It is also vital not to apply any cosmetic products or make-up right after the treatment, i.e., before the healing period is finished, because that can also cause an allergic reaction.
